We want MORE of MORE cupcakes!

We took a trip to More Forever More Cupcakes last week.
It is located at One East Delaware Place in Chicago, IIllinois 60611

They specialize in cupcakes that look almost avant garde.
The cupcake joint is very small with no seating.
We sat at the Starbucks outside (next to it) to eat & review our cupcakes.

We found this place by accident because we parked by it on our way to Sprinkles.
They are located by an awesome parking garage.

More Cupcakes have won awards!

Award winning cupcakes? Where are we?  All I know is that I want tons of cupcakes!

We chose two cupcakes (which we will be reviewing in later posts) and More cupcakes has really unique packaging!

We took some pictures of their menu for you in case you're wondering what flavors they have:
$3.50-$6.00/cupcake

Yes, one of those is blue cheese walnut praline.  Weird right?

They have a cupcake truck that travels around Chicago and sells cupcakes at different locations!

We are excited we tried MORE and we definitely will go back!  We will be reviewing some cupcakes from MORE in future posts!

STAY SWEET!

Designer Desserts: D'oh Nut Cupcake

***~We have a new rating system! Instead of stars we will be rating in numbers of sprinkles!! (Ex: 10/10 sprinkles is the best rating)

We know we review a lot of Designer Desserts Cupcakes, but it's because they have SO many weird and amazing flavors!!

The cupcake pictured above is called D'oh Nut, like Homer Simpson type of D'Oh!!

Katrina is a donut lover so she picked this cupcake to review!

Presentation : 8/10 Sprinkles
This donut cupcake literally looks like someone placed a donut on top of a cupcake because they were too lazy to ice it. Brilliant!! The sprinkles are very shiney, which is interesting.

Taste & Texture

Cake: Straight up vanilla tasting cake.
Not moist, not dry.

Frosting: The vanilla frosting was the star of this cupcake (as is with most Designer Desserts Cupcakes). The frosting on the top of the cupcake was a little harder to make the shape of the donut. Frosting was placed in two layers.

Overall: 7/10 Sprinkles
We both rated this cupcake the same. We agreed that the cake was very boring but the flavor and texture of the frosting made up for the cake. Perhaps a Chocolate D'oh Nut cupcake would be awesome to taste (or inhale)! This cupcake is great for vanilla cake lovers!

Sprinkles Chicago: Peanut Butter Chip

When we visited Sprinkles (Chicago), we got the recommendation to review the Peanut Butter Chip cupcake.  Of course, we couldn't refuse! We are peanut butter lovers!

It's important to note that all of Sprinkle's cupcakes should be eaten within 2 days of purchasing and they should NOT be refrigerated because it makes the frosting hard.

$3.50/cupcake

Presentation7/10
This cupcake looks exactly what a Sprinkles cupcake should look like!  However, we were sad that it did not indicate that it was peanut butter.  It just looks like chocolate to us!

Taste:

CAKE:  Peanut butter flavored cake with semisweet chocolate chunks inside.  The flavor of the cake was warm.  The texture of the cake was very dry but you could tell it was a good quality.  The peanut butter flavor was perfect, not overwhelming.

FROSTING: Creamy peanut butter frosting with chocolate sprinkles on top.

Overall Rating

Shauna - 8/10 because the cake was dry, even though it tasted of high quality.  Shauna believes that more cake decoration would be great.

Katrina - 8/10 because it was the perfect combination of peanut butter.  Katrina would have liked to see more than two chocolate chunks in the center of the cake.

So glad we got this one!

Sprinkles (CHICAGO!)

We took a trip to Chicago today to visit Sprinkles!  Shauna had never been there and Katrina wanted to make sure she experienced these amazing chain cupcakes that are pretty popular in California (Beverly Hills).

The store, which opens at 9am, had nobody there besides the employees!  We were welcomed the second we walked into the small bakery.

Each day at Sprinkles, they have different flavors.  Below are some of the flavor options we had to pick from.
(Strawberry, Chocolate, Red Velvet, Coconut, Cinnamon, Peanut Butter Chip)

Of course, we love getting recommendations from staff members!  The young lady pointed out that the Peanut Butter Chip was her favorite and it was a good seller at the Chicago store.

Overall, we had a great experience at the Sprinkles bakery in Chicago.  The visit is unlike other bakeries in Chicago.  Because it is a chain, you know that you will be getting quality service.  While we were there, songs about sprinkles were being piped out over the intercom! How exciting!

Katrina's favorite thing about Sprinkles (besides the cupcakes, duh!) is the wooden utensils they give to you to eat the cupcake with!

We will be visiting Sprinkles again to do more reviews.  Please stay tuned for our review on the cupcake that we ate at Sprinkles today!

Designer Desserts: Short Stack

Bacon Flavored Cupcake - Oink Oink!

Our next review is Designer Dessert's "Short Stack" cupcake (Specialty Flavor).  Shauna and I have been wanting to review this cupcake for awhile because it looks so unique with the pig.  Besides, who doesn't love bacon?

Presentation9/10
There's a lot going on with this cupcake that we like!  It's not boring AT ALL!  We were confused by the flavor though.   It's name is "Short Stack," but it had bacon and a pink pig on top.  We were confused if it was going to taste like pancakes or bacon or both!

Taste:

CAKE:  The cake tasted like a warm, heavy maple flavor.  It tasted like you were eating a pancake on a Sunday morning.

FROSTING: The frosting consisted of maple syrup flavored frosting, walnuts, bacon bits and a pink sugar piggy.  The frosting is VERY sweet on this cupcake!

Overall Rating

Shauna - 10/10 because of the presentation.  The cupcake tasted like you just made breakfast except a little more sugary.  Do not eat this cupcake if you do not like maple syrup!

Katrina - 9/10 because the presentation was very unique.  However, this cupcake make have been a little TOO SWEET.  Is there such a thing?

Designer Desserts: Red Velvet

The cupcake pictured above is Designer Dessert's "Red Velvet" cupcake (Specialty Flavor).

Presentation6/10
We thought that a lot could be done to decorate a red cupcake.  We thought the sprinkles were boring and the minute we saw the cupcake we were wondering what the thing in the middle was (turns out it's a jelly bean!).  We wished there was more decoration since this would be a great cupcake for Valentine's Day!

Taste:

CAKE:  The cake was moist inside and it tasted like dark chocolate.  We thought the cake was very decadent.   However, Shauna thought that she couldn't taste much of the "dark chocolate" flavor.

FROSTING: The frosting was a white butter cream that melted in your mouth! YUM!  The jellybean was weird on top though!

Overall Rating

Shauna - 6/10 due to presentation alone.  She believes it was "OK" tasting, but she does not love Red Velvet!

Katrina - 8/10 because it is in her top 5 Red Velvet cupcakes.  The taste of the cake in combination with the butter cream frosting is DIVINE!

Designer Desserts: "Rollin' In The Dough" Cookie Dough Cupcake

Yum, right?

Our first cupcake that we will be reviewing on this blog is Designer Dessert's "Rollin' In The Dough" cupcake (Specialty Flavor).

Presentation: 10/10
The mini cookies and chunks of actual cookie dough relay the message that it's going to taste like amazing cookie dough!

Taste:

CAKE:  The cake side of this cupcake was a moist vanilla and it went well with the frosting.

FROSTING: Shauna loved this cupcake because the frosting had actual cookie dough bits.  She thought it tasted like a cookie dough Blizzard without the ice cream.

Overall Rating

Shauna - 9/10 because she loved the frosting. The cake could have more flavor but she believes this cupcake hits "cookie dough on the head."

Katrina - 6/10 but she isn't a cookie dough fan.  The frosting is great for cookie dough lovers!
